Foundation Certificate in Sustainability & Environmental Management (FCSEM) — the internationally recognised entry-level qualification for sustainability professionals, accredited by ISEP (Institute of Sustainability & Environmental Professionals). This 5-day (40-hour) programme provides a broad introduction to sustainability and environmental management, covering governance principles, environmental management approaches, legislation and policy frameworks, and practical tools for improving sustainability performance. No previous environmental or sustainability knowledge is required. The course is designed for those beginning a sustainability career, transitioning into environmental roles, formalising existing knowledge, or working in adjacent fields (marketing, finance, procurement, operations, HR) seeking to understand sustainability application. Assessment: One-hour open-book multiple-choice examination completed online at the end of the programme. Successful candidates receive the FCSEM certificate and are eligible for ISEP Associate Membership (AISEP), including one year's free membership. Progression: FCSEM leads directly to AISEP membership and is the prerequisite for the advanced Certificate in Sustainability & Environmental Management (CSEM) leading to Practitioner Membership (PISEP).
